WHODUNNIT WEEK 1 PREDICTIONS
ABC's new mystery/reality crime solving show "Whoduunit" made it's U.S. debut last Sunday with a bang! The twitterverse was linked together by people discussing who the killer could be, among other things. I decided to go with the trend and tap into my inner Sherlock and do my best to solve the mystery. Below is a basic outline of each character, as well as my analysis of them and their odds of being "the killer". Sherri and Dante are not included, as they have already been killed. The rest are listed in alphabetical order by first name.
Adrianna: Adrianna was the most predicted to be the killer in the house, and on various polls on the web. I'm not so convinced. My personal prediction is that Adrianna wants the house to believe she is the killer, so that she can further advance herself in the game as a contestant. On the other hand, she is a TV crime reporter, which would make her more than capable of acting as the killer. Furthermore, she didn't seem overly concerned with making friends and alliances, yet she still had enough information to partially solve the crime, or at least more so than Don or Dante.
Cristina: The former Miss Nevada seems out of place stuck in the house with ex detectives and cops. But who would expect the innocent, air headed, beauty queen to be a ruthless killer? Perhaps that's just what ABC wants! She flew way under the radar in Episode 1, and seemed to follow the lead of others in the house. Is it because she can't keep up with them intellectually, or because she doesn't want to make her footsteps so easily visible.
Dana: Dana is another character who flew under the radar. Though she seems cunning and a bit intense, I wouldn't put my money on her as the killer. In the morgue, Dana admitted to knowing nothing about ballistics, which makes it hard to believe that she shot Sherri with the sling shot. In addition, it would be a sick twist on ABC's part to make the killer a cardiac nurse. Unless Dana has created a giant web of lies, the given facts just don't add up to her being a murderer.
Don: I think Don is someone everyone should keep an eye peeled on. Don comes off as an unintelligent, humbled, grandfather type character. Who would ever suspect the helpless, 62 year old who was almost eliminated in week 1 to be a mastermind killer? I think this gig is all too good to be true, or at least a bit fishy. But if Don isn't who I think he may be, you'll find out sooner rather than later.
Geno: I haven't quite figured Geno out yet. Along with Cristina, he seems to have the most out of the loop profession as a bar trivia host. And I can't believe ABC went ahead and made the big black guy the killer, that's just cold. Geno did show us he had some smarts by using the blow dryer to make the bathroom mirror humid enough to discipher the note. But he did find it awfully quick... Nonetheless, my hunch still tells me Geno isn't the killer.
Kam: Kam was a shady character off the bat, but he also immediately formed bonds with Geno and Ulysses. In fact, his appearance even kinda resembles Lex Luthor a bit. Kam has a specific, carefully structured way he likes things done, much like a careful masterfind would, or it could just be his personality. Geno already has it out for Cam, but no one else seems to put a target on his back, which seems to be just the way he likes it.
Lindsey: Ahh Lindsey! My fellow Engineer! On the one hand Lindsey seems like a long shot to be the killer, she seems a bit clueless at times and doesn't seem to have any criminal background. But you know what else engineers do? They make slingshots, calculate trajectories, make things out of metal, and they're mighty tough to outwit. Also, while everyone else rushed to the case to discover the slingshot and crowbar, she was dilly dallying upstairs. Is she really that far out of the loop, or does she have no sense of urgency?
Melina: I really hope Melina isn't the killer, she would have been a bad choice. Melina simply strikes me as that annoying girl at your lunch table who doesn't shut up. No one seems to consider her as a serious threat, which could make her a dark horse for the criminal. I don't think Melina is the killer, but her dramatic antics are enough to make me want to stab myself at times.
Ronnie: Ronnie proved himself to be a very bright, quick thinking contestant. He solved the window riddle and the 6-1-3 meaning without much effort, but anyone can seem sharp in a house full of people who don't think to turn over their keys. Furthermore, instead of keeping the answers to himself, he exposed himself by bolting to the chest as if it were a track meet. Regardless, I actually believed Ronnie to be the smartest member of the house before Giles revealed Sasha had solved the crime the furthest. Ronnie could very well have just wanted to gain the trust of the house by solving all the puzzles and then sharing them with the group, it would be good strategy. But I think Ronnie just had a minor slip up by sprinting to the chest, and he's actually here to solve the crime.
Sasha: Sasha surprised a lot of people, including myself, when it was revealed that she knew the most about the killer's tactics. Logic would conclude that the killer knows the most about the killer's tactics, but the fact that Sasha can chronologically recite the books in the bible quicker than I could recite the alphabet suggests that she's harmless. We know now Sasha is pretty sharp, but she also comes off as timid, and just not the killer type. But I definately haven't ruled it out by any means.
Ulysses: It might just be me, but Ulysses just gave me a bad vibe from the first moment he was on camera. Firstly, a name like "Ulysses" is obviously gonna turn some heads, much more so than Sasha or Cristina at least. U possesses all the characteristics of a stereotypical mastermind killer: he's smart, confident, wealthy, and has a bit of a mysterious side. He was very adamant about not sharing the information he found in the morgue, and when Dante disobeyed, he made him look like a fool. Ironically enough, Dante was set on fire that night. There's a lot of signs that point to Ulysses, and he'd be a good fit for the role, but frankly I think this one is just good casting on ABC's part. But I'm only 50% certain on that.
Final Prediction: It's early to make a call, but my week 1 prediction is Don. I think killer Don has the whole house fooled with his background and humbled remarks on how he can't win the game. He wants people to write him off, that just makes it easier for him to in turn put a knife in their back.
